Koper cruise port: 4, 6 or 8 hours ashore
Count from when you can actually leave the ship to when you must be back on board. The advertised port-call length is not all sightseeing time.
Four hours: keep it close
Explore Koper on foot: start with Titov trg, take a café break, then continue towards Carpaccio Square and the waterfront. A private vehicle is not necessary for an old-town visit. Adjust your walk for hills, weather and mobility. A four-hour Lipica excursion needs a longer total time ashore to leave a return margin.
Six hours: one carefully timed attraction
Lipica can be considered if admission and pickup fit. A cave visit needs a suitable entry slot and enough buffer around the five-hour excursion. We do not confirm it just because a ship timetable says six hours in port.
Eight hours: more choice, not unlimited stops
Postojna and Predjama may fit after checking the full schedule. Lipica plus Škocjan uses seven excursion hours and can still be too tight for an eight-hour port call once disembarkation and return allowance are included. Choose fewer stops when uncertain.
If it rains
Shorten the outdoor town walk and choose indoor breaks. A cave is an option only with a suitable admission time and appropriate walking conditions. Bring a warm layer and suitable footwear.
Tell us your real return deadline
Send the ship name and all-aboard time. We agree a return target earlier than that deadline. A ship’s departure time is not its boarding deadline, and the ship is not obliged to wait for a private excursion.
